About the site

Hey, I'm Andrés Castro G. A passionate security engineer and tech enthusiast. I love exploring new technologies, building stuff, and sharing knowledge with the community.

I've had the great opportunity to start my professional career at IBM X-Force, as a penetration testing intern. With time, and now as an FTE, I started to pivot into infrastructure and had the chance to work with great people, and learned alot about DevOps, Cloud and Automation. I've managed penetration testing infrastructure and have had the chance to automate processes and build tooling for said engagements, as well as support and create Terraform to ease their deployments.

Natural progression took me into X-Force's DevOps team, where I've had the chance to manage and learn about CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments in AWS and IBM Cloud. A lot (and I mean a lot) of scripting in bash and Python to automate processes and make life easier for our pentesters and Threat Intelligence teams.

Now, I am transitioning into a hybrid of DevOps and Software Engineering, where I get to build internal security applications using React, Node.js and TypeScript, as well as manage containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes. The learning curve is steep, but I'm quite excited. I am currently working on learning more about secured coding practices as I look to level up as a Software Engineer, while trying to grow my tool and skill set by learning AI and LLM integration into daily workflows.

Other than work, I am probably reading and or going to the gym. I also spend a lot of time listening to music, and really value the time I get to spend with those who I love, like my friends and family. I'll be using this page to document my journey, share my projects, and write about the things I learn along the way and or just stuff I want tbh. Thanks for stopping by!
